Beautiful bespoke road signs

Wow it has been a busy month for enquiries about large roadside signs. These beautiful directional signs have been made from slate and Yorkstone and are tripple the size of our usual signs.

Marlborough House Farm

This photo shows a slate sign with silver writing that our client designed to fit over the centre of a millstone they have installed at the start of their lane. This beautiful sign can be clearly seen from the road and looks amazing.

This sign was bought as a birthday present from the in-laws!
We had an unsual enquiry one day, a client turned up with 2 pieces of Yorkstone they had dug up in a field and asked if we could put the name of their farm on the front, again to serve as a roadside sign. This was quite a challenge as the surface was not flat and Yorkstone is very hard to blast, but we and the clients were extremely happy with the outcome – see for yourselves:

Copmanthorpe Street Fair is a huge success

It is Bank Holiday Monday, it is a beautiful sunny May day and Rowena and I manage to get the stall set up in record time. We have come to the St Giles street fair in Copmanthorpe, Yorkshire. The sun is shining (in between the downpours of hail and rain) and everyone from the village is out in full force supporting the fair. There are cupcakes as far as the eye can see, a few charity stalls and Rowena and I selling house signs.

The fair goes well with a visit from the Mayor who asks Rowena about the granite and a plug on the local radio. Hundreds of leaflets where handed out and many smiles exchanged. We will be back for the Carnival in July so look out for us.

House-plates at Selby

Wow, the Selby Game Fair over Easter was interesting and enlightening. Did you know that it is a legal requirement within the UK to clearly display your house name or number? Well nether did we, until a customer came on to the stand to buy a house plate for his new barn. The local council had written to him explaining that he needs to clearly display his barn’s name within 6 months or he will get a fine!

We talked through his requirements and designed him a lovely black slate sign with white Times New Roman lettering and hidden fixings, which will look great against his yorkstone barn.

The Selby Game Fair turned out to be a great 4 days, with the directors of the business taking it in turns to man the stall, talking to our customers and showing off our sample house signs. We enjoyed it so much we will definitely be back next year!

Friend buys best house warming present

Ever wondered what to get your friend when they have moved house?¬† Kettles and toasters move house with you, flowers and chocolates are quickly forgotton and that bottle of wine will get lost with the others.¬†

Well one of our customers had the solution, she came in to our offices and asked for “a granite sign with Wildacres in white paint”.¬† We of course settled down to design the perfect house sign, wrapped it up and posted it out.¬†

¬†A couple of days later the customer phoned in to say her sign was now installed in pride of place and her friends were amazed at her gift.
